You can have your transfers in digital files in your hard drive:

VIDEO (Quicktime, MP4, AVI, WMV), AUDIO (WAV, MP3, AIFF), IMAGES (TIFF, PDF, JPEG)

Or you can have them on DVD / Blu-ray “video” or “standard” for quick and accessible reference.

Ensure the sustainable preservation of the bits sequences containing the information to be preserved. These are typically file sets organized within folders, which need to be maintained over time. The slightest bit error can cause the document to be lost. This task involves the choice of storage media adapted to the volume of data, the creation of one or more copies of the files on separate media, the sending of at least one copy to a site geographically distant from the main site, monitoring the state of the media and its renewal (called media migration) whenever necessary.

INFO ABOUT DIGITAL STORAGE

Storing the raw digitized data : this will delay their treatment, but may require lot of storage space. Is favored to record in lossless formats (TIFF, WAV …).

Storage of processed data, exemple : we store the resulting PDF document after character recognition processing. If you wish to make other treatments, it may be necessary to rescan the physical element.

Storage of compressed digital data : it is considered that small data loss is acceptable to save storage space ( JPEG, MP3… ).

Whatever the considered files, it is recommended to opt for open formats to ensure sustainability.
